Can You Get Pregnant Having Sex Every Day?
Actually, the signs 24 hours before giving birth are not always the same for every pregnant woman. However, it is important for pregnant women to know these signs, so that when they experience them, pregnant women can immediately visit the nearest health facility and prepare themselves to face childbirth.
Most pregnant women already know their expected due date (HPL). However, because it is only an estimate, not all pregnant women give birth exactly according to the HPL. In fact, very few actually give birth on the exact day they were due, especially pregnant women who give birth naturally.
Therefore, every pregnant woman needs to recognize the signs 24 hours before giving birth, especially when the gestational age reaches 38 weeks, because these signs tend to be more accurate in determining when childbirth will occur.
Signs 24 hours before giving birth that you need to know
The following are some of the signs 24 hours before giving birth that are commonly experienced by pregnant women:
1. Contractions
Contractions are one of the most common signs 24 hours before giving birth. If the contractions that pregnant women feel start to become more frequent and regular, for example around 1 minute and 5-15 minutes apart for each contraction, this may indicate that the time for pregnant women to give birth is getting closer.
Contractions that are becoming more frequent and regular indicate that pregnant women are experiencing genuine contractions. During contractions, the uterine muscles will tighten and cause pain and the stomach will feel hard to the touch.
2. Stomach cramps
Stomach cramps that are felt as a sign 24 hours before giving birth are similar to menstrual cramps, pregnant women. This sign usually appears before contractions. Cramps appear several times a day and generally subside on their own.
3. Pelvic pain
Towards the time of delivery, the baby will descend into the birth canal. Well, the baby's changing position causes pressure on the pelvis and causes pain. Apart from pain, this condition can also cause pregnant women to urinate frequently.
4. Pain in the lower back
Not only pelvic pain, the baby's descent into the birth canal can also cause pain in the lower back. The pain as a sign 24 hours before giving birth is different from the back pain that pregnant women feel throughout pregnancy, yes. The pain can be more severe and may radiate to the stomach area.
5. Mucus accompanied by blood comes out from the vagina
Towards delivery, the walls of the cervix (cervix) begin to widen and thin, so that the thick mucus that previously closed the cervical opening will be released. This process causes mucus mixed with blood to come out of the vagina.
In contrast to whitish mucus, the mucus that is a sign 24 hours before giving birth has a jelly-like texture with a pink to brown color.
6. Rupture of membranes
The most obvious sign 24 hours before delivery is the sac ruptured membranes. Rupture of the amniotic sac can be in the form of water droplets coming out of the vagina or fluid flowing profusely until it wets the pregnant woman's panties. Usually, labor will begin within 24 hours after the amniotic fluid breaks.
7. Opening 2 or 3
The cervix is dilated about 2–3 cm or known as opening 2 and 3 are strong signs that labor will take place in the next 24–48 hours. To give birth normally, the cervix needs to dilate at least 10 cm or also called 10 dilation (complete opening).
This opening can only be identified by examining the cervix by a midwife or doctor, OK? So, if you feel other signs of labor, pregnant women should see a doctor to monitor the opening and progress of the ongoing stage of labor.
8. Diarrhea
At the end of pregnancy, usually the body will release more relaxin hormones which aim to relax joints and ligaments in preparation for childbirth. The effect of the relaxin hormone also has an impact on the muscles around the rectum, causing diarrhea.
However, this sign of labor is still controversial because not all pregnant women who are about to give birth will definitely experience it. Apart from that, diarrhea can also be caused by other things, such as food poisoning or intestinal infections.
Those are some of the signs 24 hours before giving birth. Apart from knowing the signs, also make sure pregnant women have prepared the equipment needed during childbirth in one bag, OK? So, when signs of childbirth appear, pregnant women can immediately rush to a health facility nearby while carrying the bag.
Knowing the signs 24 hours before giving birth is very important, especially for prospective mothers who are planning to give birth naturally, because the time of delivery cannot be controlled and does not always correspond to the HPL.
However, if the HPL has passed but the pregnant woman has not shown signs of giving birth, you should consult with doctor to find out what action to take next. Likewise, if signs of labor appear even though the gestational age has not reached 37 weeks.
