The COVID-19 vaccination program is one of the government's efforts to break the chain of transmission of the Corona virus. The COVID-19 vaccine is divided into two doses. So, to find out more about the interdose schedule, see the discussion in the following article.

Various preventive steps are taken to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic. Apart from implementing health protocols, one of the efforts to reduce the spread of the Corona virus is by vaccinating COVID-19.

Is it true that the COVID-19 vaccine can interfere with the menstrual cycle?

COVID-19 Vaccines Circulating in Indonesia

Based on the Decree of the Minister of Health Number HK.01.97/ Menkes.12758/2020, there are various types of COVID-19 vaccines that will be used in Indonesia, including vaccines produced by PT BioFarma, Oxford-AstraZeneca, Sinovac, Sinopharm, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, and Novavax.

Currently there are only two types of COVID-19 vaccines that have been used by the government, namely Sinovac which is based on an inactivated virus or Corona virus which has been killed and AstraZeneca which is made from a genetically modified virus.

The injection of the COVID-19 vaccine will be carried out twice. This aims to optimize the antibodies formed by the body. Thus, the body will have a stronger immune response against the Corona virus.

Covid-19 Vaccine Acceptance Process

The administration of the COVID-19 vaccine by the government will be carried out in four stages and has been started since January 2021. This vaccination program is for all Indonesians.

Currently, the government provides two ways of registering the COVID-19 vaccination. The first way is to fill out a form on the official website of the Ministry of Health or the official website of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN).

Participants who choose to register through this form will receive the COVID-19 vaccine through public health facilities, both public health centers and government hospitals.

Meanwhile, the second way to receive the COVID-19 vaccine is through a mass vaccination program organized by certain organizations or agencies in collaboration with the Ministry of Health or the local Health Office.

If the participant has registered, notification of the location and schedule for the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine doses 1 and 2 will be determined by the local health office or related organizations and agencies.

Schedule of Second Dose of Covid-19 Vaccine

The Ministry of Health has recommended the best time lag for administering the first dose and the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The best time to receive a second dose of Sinovac vaccine is 28 days from the first dose, while the AstraZeneca vaccine is 12 weeks.

However, some obstacles sometimes arise after the injection of the first dose of vaccine, so that the administration of the second dose is delayed. One example is participants infected with the Corona virus after injection of the first dose.

Referring to the recommendation of the Indonesian Internal Medicine Specialist Association (PAPDI), COVID-19 survivors can be vaccinated 3 months after being declared cured.

This means that participants infected with the Corona virus after receiving the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine will also receive the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine 3 months after being declared cured.

In addition, the administration of the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine can also be delayed because participants have other interests on the predetermined vaccination day. If this happens, the relevant participant will be given a replacement schedule adjusted by the health facility where the participant receives the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

However, if you cannot attend the second vaccination schedule, you are advised to confirm in advance to the health facility where you received your first COVID-19 vaccine, to get a replacement schedule.

Covid-19 vaccine delivery is now increasingly being carried out in various regions and is carried out in stages. Therefore, if you have received an invitation to vaccinate against COVID-19, you should arrive according to the schedule.

In addition, you also need to remember that receiving a vaccine does not mean that you are completely protected from the Corona virus. You should still apply health protocols by washing your hands regularly, wearing a mask, maintaining physical distance and avoiding crowds.

If you still have questions regarding receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, do not hesitate to consult a doctor. You can also directly contact the local health office, the nearest medical service from home, or the COVID-19 vaccination hotline at 119 ext 9.
