Causes of Difficult Holding on urinating After Childbirth

The cause of difficult to hold urination after childbirth is not known with certainty.

Some claim that this occurs because of an injury during childbirth, which causes damage to the tissue around the urinary tract . But there are also those who argue that it is caused by changes in urinary tract muscles during pregnancy.

Although the cause is uncertain, there are a number of conditions that are known to increase the risk of difficult to hold BAK after giving birth, namely obesity during pregnancy, childbirth normal or with the help of forceps and vacuum, having gestational diabetes, and having been pregnant and giving birth before.

How to Overcome Difficult Withholding the Urgent After Childbirth

Complaints difficult to hold urinating after giving birth usually will improve by itself. However, Mother can also handle it in the following ways:

1. Do Kegel exercises routinely

The first way you can do to overcome the difficulty holding BAK after giving birth is to do routine Kegel exercises. If done routinely and in the right way, Kegel exercises can strengthen the pelvic floor muscles and make Mother easier to control BAK.

The following are the steps to do Kegel exercises:

  • Lying down with your knees bent and legs open.
  • Make a motion to hold urine or hold fart by tightening the muscles in the vagina and urethra, then hold for 10 seconds.
  • After that, relax the muscles in around the vagina and urethra for 10 seconds, before starting to tighten it again.
  • Repeat this movement 10 times.

2.Hold the bladder some time before BAK

When the urge to urinate appears, as much as possible hold for a while for about 15 minutes. This is to train the muscles around the urinary tract, so that BAK can be more controlled.

Mothers can also cross their legs to tighten the pelvic muscles when sneezing or coughing, so as to prevent unconscious discharge of urine.

3. Sufficient daily fluid needs

Mother might think that one of the ways to overcome the difficulty of holding urinating is to limit your intake of water. This is wrong, Bun. Mother must still meet the fluid needs by drinking water at least 8 glasses per day.

4. Limit foods or drinks that contain caffeine

After giving birth, Mother should still limit the consumption of caffeinated, carbonated foods and have a spicy taste. These foods or drinks can trigger BAK more often.

To prevent difficult BAK after giving birth, you can do yoga for pregnant women, meet your fluid needs, consume foods rich in fiber, and prevent excessive weight gain when pregnant.

If you still find it difficult to keep BAK even after you have done some of the above methods, do not hesitate to consult a doctor to get the right treatment.
