The Right Way to Use a Nebulizer in Children

  1. Wash your hands with soap before touching the nebulizer and medicine. Make sure the hose that connects the compressor and the mask is clean. If it is dirty, clean it with water then wipe it dry.
  2. Place the nebulizer on a flat surface. If the child is afraid when he hears the sound that is generated by the nebulizer, you can put this tool on a towel.
  3. Before pouring the medicine into a container, read the rules for use contained in the medicine box with carefully.
  4. Connect a hose that connects the air compressor to the medicine container.
  5. The child's lap, then attach the mask to his face.

  9. After use, clean the air compressor, tube, and medicine container so as not to breed bacteria and fungi. Soak the tube and medicine container in warm water for 5 minutes, dry it, then store it in a safe and clean place.

To help calm the Little One while using the nebulizer, try to provide a spectacle that can distract him, like a cartoon on television.

If your child complains of dizziness or looks nervous when administering drugs with a nebulizer, stop therapy for 5 minutes. After that, continue and ask your child to breathe slowly. If he still feels dizzy and looks nervous, stop using the nebulizer immediately and see a doctor to get the best solution.

Using a nebulizer is a safe and effective way to give inhaled medicines to children who have respiratory diseases at home. However, not all children have the same reaction after administering inhalation through the nebulizer.
