Link between High Cholesterol and Goat Meat

Having high cholesterol makes you have to be selective in choosing food. M certain habits, such as offal and meat goats , containing cholesterol that must be limited intake.

Goat meat contains a variety of nutrients needed by the body, such as protein, fat, potassium, iron, zinc , calcium, selenium, phosphorus, folate, vitamin B, vitamin K, and vitamin E.

Although it contains various nutrients, goat meat is a source of saturated fat, which if consumed too much can increase levels of bad cholesterol in the body.

Link between High Cholesterol and Goat Meat

There are two types of cholesterol in the body, namely bad cholesterol (LDL/ l ow density lipoprotein ) and good cholesterol (HDL/ lipoprotein ) i>).

LDL cholesterol is called bad cholesterol because if the levels in the blood are excessive, it can cause atherosclerosis or plaque buildup in the blood vessel walls. When it occurs in the heart's blood vessels and brain, atherosclerosis can cause heart disease, heart attack, and stroke.

HDL cholesterol is called good cholesterol because cholesterol can eliminate bad LDL cholesterol from the blood. This makes HDL cholesterol able to prevent heart disease and stroke.

Cholesterol and Goat Meat

Please note that all foods of animal origin contain cholesterol. As said earlier, cholesterol is needed by the body to build cell walls, support metabolism, and make various hormones, such as estrogen and testosterone.

Eating mutton is not a problem, as long as it's not excessive. Cholesterol levels of each meat vary. The following is the amount of cholesterol in every 100 grams of meat:

  • Goat meat contains 75 mg of cholesterol.
  • Lamb meat contains 110 mg of cholesterol.
  • Beef (sirloin pieces) contain about 90 milligrams, while lean beef contains 65 milligrams of cholesterol.
  • Skinless chicken breast meat contains 85 mg of cholesterol.
  • Chicken thighs contain 135 mg of cholesterol.

When compared to lamb, fatty beef, and chicken breast or thighs, actually goat meat actually contains less cholesterol.

How to Healthy Eat Goat Meat

In order to get nutritional intake from goat meat while reducing its cholesterol, then consider how to process and the amount of goat meat consumed. Because if you consume it excessively or cooked in an unhealthy way, the body can experience high cholesterol.

To be healthier, you are encouraged to process goat meat into a roasted goat, roast, or soup. Don't fry mutton, because it can increase the levels of saturated fat and cholesterol in the meat.

Also, cut the fat part of the goat before processing it. You can also add vegetables and fruits when eating mutton. Eating mutton with vegetables and fruit can help reduce the amount of cholesterol absorbed by the body.

As long as it's within reasonable limits, consumption of goat meat is still okay. But if you like and often eat mutton or other types of meat, you are encouraged to routinely check cholesterol levels to anticipate the occurrence of high cholesterol. If cholesterol levels are high, you should consult a doctor to get treatment.
