Symptoms and Treatment of Scabies in Children

Symptoms of Scabies in Children

Treating Scabies in Children
If The little one shows symptoms of scabies, immediately take it to the doctor for an examination and get treatment for scabies.
To ensure a diagnosis, the doctor will look at the skin condition of the Little One to find signs of scabies. If necessary, the doctor will examine the skin sample with a microscope to look for scabies.
If your child is certain to have scabies, the doctor will prescribe a medication such as:
- Creams and lotions that contains permethrin , lindane , sulfur, or crotamiton .
- Antihistamine drugs to help relieve itching.
- ivermectin for broad and severe scabies.
- Antibiotics for treating bacterial infections of the skin of the Little One.
Treatment of scabies in children need approximately 4-6 weeks, until the disease is cured and the symptoms disappear. Therefore, Mother and Father need to be patient in caring for children with scabies, and do not stop treatment without the doctor's advice.
In addition to treatment from a doctor, also do the following steps to treat scabies in children:
- Check everyone who lives at home with the child to see a doctor so that they can be treated. This is to prevent recurrence of scabies.
- Bathe the Little One in 8-12 hours after he has been given a flea cure.
- Don't apply ointment to your child's eyes, nose and mouth , unless recommended by a doctor.
- Wash your child with warm water.

- Dry blankets, pillows, and bolsters for several days in the sun to turn off fleas.
