• The most cases of DHF in Indonesia are in East Java, Central Java, NTT, and Kupang.
• The symptoms of DHF do not appear immediately, but it takes 4-10 days after being bitten by a mosquito carrying the dengue virus.
• The most common symptoms of DHF are high fever up to 40 degrees Celsius, which is accompanied by a shivering and sweaty body. In addition, other symptoms that usually occur are headache, bone and muscle pain, nausea, the appearance of red spots on the skin, until bleeding in the nose and gums.
• Red spots that appear on the surface of the skin are a sign of bleeding on the skin due to a decrease in platelets (platelets).
• DHF can develop into a severe and severe condition, which is called Dengue Shock Syndrome (DSS) . Symptoms include vomiting, abdominal pain, changes in body temperature from fever to cold (hypothermia), and slowing heart rate.
• DHF is at risk of causing death when the sufferer experiences shock due to bleeding.
• Until now, there is no specific medicine to cure DHF. Giving medicine is only intended to reduce symptoms of fever and pain, and prevent complications. In addition, DHF sufferers are encouraged to take plenty of rest and drink enough to avoid dehydration.

Prevention of Dengue Fever

Don't think that the Aedes aegypti mosquito prefers to nest in a dirty or neglected place. These mosquitoes actually prefer to nest in clean water that is left inundated.

Therefore, drying up puddles, closing and draining clean water reservoirs, and burying used goods so as not to become mosquito nests are the main steps to prevent dengue. In addition, DHF can also be prevented in the following ways:

• Keep your home environment clean on a regular basis, especially water reservoirs.
• Using insect repellent, either spray, burn or electric insect repellent, in the morning and evening.
• Apply anti-mosquito lotion.
• Install mosquito nets in each window or air vent, so that mosquitoes do not enter the house.
• Wearing long-sleeved clothes and trousers when doing activities outside the home.
• Don't hang clothes in the room, because it can be a place for mosquitoes to hide.
• Get a dengue fever vaccine.

Eradicating mosquito nests and preventing mosquito bites is still the main step to protect yourself from dengue fever. To be more effective, coordinate with the environmental manager to do fogging, to eradicate mosquitoes in the residential area where you live.
