Don't Hesitate to the Health Center and Get This Health Service
In Indonesia, the function of the puskesmas is to provide health services to the community through the Community Health Effort (SME) and Individual Health Efforts (UKP) program. The Puskemas also includes first-rate health facilities, which means the puskesmas is a front-line facility in providing health services to the community .
As the name implies, the UKM program is aimed at health maintenance and improvement activities. In addition, the program also conducts prevention and prevention of health problems for families and communities. Meanwhile, the UKP program is more focused on individual health problems.
Puskesmas are equipped with competent medical personnel, including doctors, dentists, midwives, nurses, laboratory staff, environmental and community health workers, and nutrition workers.
With available resources, the puskesmas offers a range of affordable health services, such as counseling, maternal and child health services, immunization, nutrition services and posyandu development, as well as prevention and control of diseases, both infectious and non-communicable diseases.
Health Facilities and Services at the Puskesmas
Apart from its status as a first-rate health facility, puskesmas still have facilities that can be relied upon to serve patients. Health facilities and services that you can get at the puskesmas consist of outpatient and inpatient care.
Health services at the puskesmas are not as complete as in large hospitals, but patients can still get adequate care, such as:
- Outpatient first level
Providing disease prevention services, consultation and treatment advice to patients who do not need hospitalization. - First level hospitalization
Outpatient treatment accompanied by additional inpatient facilities according to medical indications. - Health screening services
Services provided to patients at risk for chronic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and cervical cancer. - Maternal and child health services
Examination of the condition of pregnant women, childbirth, postpartum care, breastfeeding, family planning programs, and basic immunizations for infants and children. Especially in assisting normal labor, the puskesmas can also provide inpatient services.
BPJS User Health Services at the Puskesmas
Since 2014, the Indonesian government has established a national scale health insurance system called the Social Security Administering Agency (BPJS). By becoming a BPJS participant and paying contributions according to obligations, participants are entitled to receive health services that are in accordance with their rights.
The advantage of being a member of the BPJS is getting health services with reduced fees or even free of charge. What are the conveniences that can be obtained? See the explanation below:
- If you are outside the area of a health center or health facility where you are registered, you can still seek treatment at any health center, not necessarily at the health center where you are registered.
- If an emergency occurs, you can also get health services at a health center or any health facility.
- If you need advanced level health services, a doctor at a health center or health facility will provide a referral so that you can continue treatment to a more complete health care facility, such as in a hospital.
Seeing the complete health services provided, you do not need to hesitate to seek treatment at a health center. In addition to services that are fairly complete, the puskesmas has also been supported by professional medical personnel and facilities that meet the standards.
If there are critical conditions or certain diseases that need to be handled by a specialist and require facilities that are not available at the puskesmas, the puskesmas can provide a cover letter to refer patients to advanced health facilities, namely hospitals.
